Centrifugal Casting
In the Centrifugal Casting process, the raw materials, including resin, chopped reinforcement (fiberglass) and filler, are progressively fed into a rotating mold. The proportions of the raw materials can be varied through the process to form layers of different compositions. The speed of rotation and the travel of the feeder must be carefully controlled. A very strong centrifugal force affects impregnation, consolidation and movement of the materials. As a result, the finished has a resin rich inner layer. The mold can be placed in a heated chamber to accelerate the cure rate.
